There are plenty of takeaways to unpack from the testimony of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top NSC Ukraine expert who told impeachment investigators that Trump's White House deliberately excluded crucial terms from the transcript of the call at the centre of the inquiry.
For one, there the fact that it was ten hours long. As Stephen Colbert joked on Wednesday, that can't be good: "You never want to hear your spouse say 'Honey, we need to talk... for ten hours.'"
Then there's the betrayal of Trump's beloved ellipsis, and the absurdity of selectively releasing the transcript but leaving in the most incriminating phrase, which Colbert compares to murdering someone and only hiding half the evidence. Read more...
