I am devoted to this Zojirushi travel mug — and it's on sale

Save $21.01: The Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug is on sale for just $23.99 at Amazon as of Oct. 29. Down from its list price of $45, that's a 47% savings.

If you've ever made yourself a hot beverage before, you've almost certainly forgotten your hot beverage exists immediately after pouring it. I'm talking cups of tea you discover in your kitchen hours later and the cold coffee on your desk.

If your solution is to cut your losses or run to the microwave, I'm here to personally attest that there is a more proactive (and travel-friendly) way to keep your drinks at the desired temp.

It's with the Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug, which is on sale for just $23.99 at Amazon as of Oct. 29. With nearly 20,000 reviews, this is obviously a popular mug that would work great for yourself or as a gift during these chilly months. It's also a mug that has been with this writer for years now, so please bear with any sentimentality or professions of deep undying love that may appear below.

At first glance, the Zojirushi Mug is unassuming. But just like the brand's singing rice cooker, there is a reason people (by people, I mean me) are obsessed. For starters, this thing keeps your beverages hot all day. It claims to hold 154 degrees for six hours, but I've definitely poured tea at 8 a.m. and taken a warming sip around 4:45 p.m. My roommate was once so impressed with the hot steam this mug emitted hours after she watched me prepare a drink that she then bought herself one. She now uses hers daily, by the way.

Now that we've established this mug will definitely keep your drinks hot, let's move on to praising its travel friendly properties. Folks, this beauty does not leak. To open the cap, you have to press a little button, which you lock when you're moving around. During college, though I would always carefully and lovingly pack this mug in my backpack, sometimes gravity took hold and this mug would be straight up horizontal when I opened my bag. But my lock button was on, so there were no leaks (the same cannot be said for most other beverage receptacles I owned during college). The 16-ounce mug is also nice and skinny, so it doesn't feel clunky to bring on the go, and will fit neatly into a cup holder.

I could easily write over 1,000 words on this mug, but I realize reading that might not be everyone's cup (or travel mug) of tea. I'll end with saying that the only reason I see this tumbler not working out for you is if you really want something that can carry more than 16 ounces of beverage. Otherwise, if you're looking for something that holds a temp like no other, does not leak, is easy to carry around, and is pretty dang simple to clean, you'd really be hard-pressed to do better than the Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug.
