Earlier this summer, Warner Bros. announced it won't release its $90 million-budget Batgirl movie even though it was in post-production, dismaying the cast and crew as well as fans. "We are saddened and shocked by the news," wrote directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah on Instagram. "We still can't believe it."
Ahead of "funeral screenings" of the film — for those involved in production but not viewers — Batgirl star Leslie Grace uploaded some behind-the-scenes clips on TikTok.
In the 15-second clip, Grace, who played titular Batgirl Babs Gordon, strung together selfies in makeup and fake blood, fight training, and stunt scenes.
Grace had previously commented on the cancelation back in August, sharing on Instagram: "To every Batgirl fan — THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, 'my own damn hero!'"
Fans outpoured support for Grace and anger over the cancelation when it was first announced, and continue to do so with the BTS footage. Top comments on TikTok include, "You deserved [so much] better, I have no doubt you absolutely did Babs justice," and "Manifesting that you get your shot again."
