I'm 32. Xbox is barred from making X-Men games 'til I'm 45. Here's why.

In case you missed it, a massive ransomware attack hit Insomniac Games, the Sony-owned development studio behind games such as Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Cybercriminal group Rhysida leaked 1.67 terabytes of secrets, including story spoilers and unannounced characters from unreleased games, according to Cyber Daily.

Reportedly among that breached data includes a deal Sony signed with Marvel, making X-Men games exclusive to Insomniac Games until Dec. 31, 2035.

Xbox can't touch X-men until 2036

This means that X-Men-affiliated titles can't be released to Windows PC nor any cloud-gaming services for about 13 years. I'll be nearly 50 by then!

However, the leaked document says that X-Men characters are greenlit for "multi-family" team games, including titles that feature the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. But anything that gives X-Men a competitive advantage, according to Windows Central, such as having Wolverine exclusive to Xbox, is a no go.

It's important to note that this cyberattack is gruesome. It's not just data from upcoming games that got leaked, but also information from employees, including salaries, I-9 employment forms, termination documents, screenshots of Insomniac's Slack channels, and more.

We also know that Insomniac is working on a Ratchet & Clank sequel as well as a standalone Venom game.

As of this writing, Insomniac Games nor Sony hasn't issued a statement on the gnarly leak.
