The smart home war is heating up. Or, cooling down if it's hot outside.
Amazon debuted a new Alexa-enabled competitor to Google's Nest thermostat on Tuesday. Simply called the Amazon Smart Thermostat, it's made in partnership with Honeywell Home, and Amazon says it works with most HVAC systems.
"Smart" thermostats automatically make adjustments to your home heating and cooling system in order to make them more energy efficient. The Alexa AI runs the Amazon Smart Thermostat, and customers can enable "Hunches" so that the thermostat will go up, down, off, or on, based on when Alexa ~somehow knows~ what you need.
You can control the thermostat with other Alexa devices, and manage the thermostat in an app.
The thermostat goes for $59.99, but Amazon says, with rebates, the price is around $10 on average.
